Insider Notes:

Reno-area golf courses often remain open year-round, but winter play can be impacted by frost or snow. Always confirm conditions with the course on the day of play.

Aerification and overseeding commonly occur in the fall. Check maintenance schedules in advance, as green conditions or tee availability may be affected.

The high-desert elevation and dry climate can add distance to tee shots. Take time to dial in yardages, particularly on approach shots.

Even though Grizzly Ranch Golf Club is about an hour from Reno, the drive is well worth it for its Bob Cupp design, scenic mountain setting, and rewarding strategic variety.

Victorian Square in Sparks offers dining, local art, historic sites, and year-round community events, making it an easy way to experience the area beyond the courses.

If visiting over Labor Day weekend, the Best in the West Nugget Rib Cook-Off is one of the region’s signature events, combining food, music, and strong local energy.
